Cape Coast, March 29, GNA – The pbadage of the
The Right to Information Bill (RTI) would be very useful in helping the
Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) updates its
vision of accountability, good governance and transparency.

Mr. Tetteh Tuwor, Central Region Director
CHRAJ, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), welcomed the
the adoption of the bill and stated that Ghanaians would have no excuse for not seeking
information.

Parliament on Tuesday, March 26, 2018 adopted
the Right RTI bill to give Ghanaians access to public information
information and serve as an incentive to fight corruption in
Ghana.

The RTI Act should provide guidelines
for the implementation of constitutional rights guaranteed to
information held by the public and certain private institutions, subject to
exemptions necessary and compatible with the protection of public rights
interest in a democratic society.

"Governance should be transparent, the rule of
law and other forms of existing government structures must be transparent
the citizens. The pbadage of the RTI is good for us all because it
to help people enjoy their rights, "Tuwor said.

He said that some parts of the audience
in particular, the media may be dissatisfied with certain provisions and articles
in the RTI bill, this pbadage was a step towards the creation of the
environment conducive to the fight against corruption and must be accepted.

"It is good that they have succeeded. Half
bread is better than nothing, let's use and implement it. When there is
challenges, we'll talk about it and see how they can change it, "he said.

Mr. Tuwor called on Ghanaians to support and
make appropriate use of the ITR Act by adding that any amendment or new policy
were without challenges, but they would be approached as they
occur.

The RTI, he said should not be seen as something
this would only benefit the media but the general public.

In this respect, he called the general
public to strive to know their rights and responsibilities under the law and
ensure compliance.

"We now have the power to request a document
such as contract documents, but we must understand what the law says in order to
know our rights, our responsibilities, "he added.
