Rugby: The coach of the All Blacks, Steve Hansen – Israel Folau's "is dropped"

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said the controversial Israel Wallabies star Israel Folau has "dropped out" as a result of spreading his beliefs on social media.

Folau provoked indignation after posting last Wednesday on his Instagram account that "hell awaits drunkards, homobaduals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolators", adding that they should "repent".

As a result, Folau had to fight for his career at Rugby Australia to use all his power to end his four-year contract.

Addressing the media during the All Blacks Foundation Day in Wellington today, Hansen said that he thought Folau had mismanaged the situation.

"I think we all know that what he said is not correct … this has been treated quite harshly by his employers," Hansen said. "He has the right to have an opinion, but I think he's probably let go of how he got on with that."

"He firmly believes in it, so he just misses a piece of the puzzle, I think."

Hansen agreed that Folau would be a loss for the Wallabies if Rugby Australia ended his contract.

But, opening for the first time since taking office, Folau said that what would happen to his rugby career was now purely the will of God.

"It's obviously a current decision, but I believe in a God who controls everything," Folau said. Sydney Morning Herald.

"Whatever his desire, whether to continue playing or not, I'm more than happy to do what he wants me to do.

"First of all, I live for God now, just what He wants me to do, I think his plans for me are better than anything I can think of. to play, so be it.

"By saying that, of course, I love playing football and if it works in this way, I will really miss it, but my faith in Jesus Christ is what comes first."

Rugby Australia had previously issued a revealing joint statement with the NSW Waratahs.

"Our common position regarding Israel Folau is unchanged," he said. "After today 's meeting, both organizations will update their respective advice on the issue in order to consider the next steps." Friday night, the NSW Rugby Union doubled its statement, saying that Folau had been removed from office.

"The NSW Rugby Union has put Israel Folau out of all its tasks with the NSW Waratahs until further notice."

RA and NSW Rugby had said Thursday night that Castle had not been able to "contact Folau directly" to inform him of his intention to terminate his $ 4 million deal.
