the American horror story The producer turns the Broadway musical into a "film event" for the streaming giant, Murphy announced via his Instagram account on Tuesday.

"Prom is one of the most exhilarating, heartfelt and special musicals I've ever seen on Broadway, "Murphy said in a legend. "It's really an original that celebrates the oppressed and dramatically says that LGBTQ rights are human rights. I feel a special connection with her because she is in Indiana and that's where I grew up.

The musical, which just opened on Broadway in November, focuses on four casual theater actors traveling to Indiana to help a teenager whose graduation party was canceled when she tried to bring his girlfriend on the date of the ball. Producers Bill Damaschke and Dori Bernstein, director Casey Nicholaw, songwriter Matthew Sklar and writers Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin will join Murphy for the production of Netflix.

Murphy has several other Netflix projects as part of his new development agreement, including The politician, with Ben Platt and Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ratched, a prequel to Flight over a cuckoo's nest featuring Sarah Paulson as the titular nurse.
