U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker insists the split between Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka is a “no-problem” ahead of this weekend’s competition at Whistling Straits.
Big winners DeChambeau and Koepka, who have traded public blows for the past two years, are teammates USA as they attempt to reclaim the trophy they lost at Golf National in 2018.
Ahead of this year’s Open Championship, Koepka said DeChambeau was “a fair game” after his compatriot allegedly broke a deal the couple made in 2019 to keep any personal disputes private.
“It’s really not a problem for me and for the team,” Stricker said at a press conference ahead of the tournament on Monday.
“We met a few weeks ago [with his five vice-captains] and I had conversations with them both. They assured me it would not be a problem. I have no problem. “

The public nature of the couple’s breakup was such that the PGA Tour warned fans who taunted DeChambeau with “Brooksy” chants that they could be banned from the events.
Unsurprisingly, Stricker said the conflicting pair, who are two of eight U.S. players in the world’s top 10, were unlikely to team up for the matchplay competition in Wisconsin.
“Will we involve them? I don’t think so at the moment, but things could change,” he said. “It could still happen, but probably not.”
World No.10 Koepka was in doubt about injuries after injuring his wrist in the season-ending Tour Championship earlier this month, but Stricker said the four-time major winner has fully recovered for the three day event.
“I’ve been talking to him since it happened, check with him every other day. He tells me everything is 100% and everything is ready and ready to go,” said the US captain.

Stricker also dismissed any concerns about Koepka expressing his apparent indifference to the Ryder Cup in an interview with Golf summary Last week.
Koepka described the event as “a bit odd” and said it may not have been made for team sports as it disrupts his usual routine.
“I told him about it,” Stricker said. “What I personally saw in the team room did not match what I read in these articles. Again, I’m not worried about Brooks.”
