Member of the communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Eric Sosu believes that the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, should no longer be in office after circumventing due process in the botched purchase of vaccines Sputnik V.

It comes after an ad hoc parliamentary committee investigating the deal recommended efforts be made to recoup more than GHS 16 million spent under the deal.

The minority in parliament, for example, threatened to pass a vote of no confidence against the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu.

“I think he should resign honorably, or the president should fire him,” Eric said. Sosu exclusively told Kwaku Dawuro on “He gives a cow”based in Accra FM Kingdom 107.7

Mr. Eric Sosu indicated that it was the Sheikh of Dubai who acted as an intermediary who approached the Ministry of Health but a recent revelation indicates that it was rather Agyemang-Manu who approached the Sheikh instead.

“This is clearly a demonstration of someone who lacks the leadership skills to deal with situations of this magnitude.

“We would like President Nana Akufo-Addo to stick to his words when he said he would protect the public purse by insisting on value for money in all public transactions.”

Mr. Eric Sosu believes that the president has, over time, tried to protect his appointees in similar situations “by mocking his promise to fight corruption”.

A number of Ghanaians have also voiced concerns over the committee’s recommendation for not proposing the removal of the health minister.
