Alhaji Haruna Halidu
Alhaji Haruna Halidu, member of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NEC), called on Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul to be relieved of his duties following the deadly clashes in Chereponi, in the region Northeast.
The resumption of clashes between Chokosis and Konkombas around Chereponi and Saboba has resulted in the displacement of more than 500 displaced people, as well as others fleeing the area to save their lives. Police confirmed the death of one of them while they were trying to restore calm in the area.
Alhaji Halidu, who spoke at the Focus on Power 97.9FM Weekend, noted that while President Akufo-Addo has failed to find a pragmatic way to end the conflict, Minister of Defense from one of the warring factions, should be relieved of his post.
The candidate for the NDC Parliament of Ablekuma Central believes that Mr Nitiwul has not been able to recall his people (the Kokombas) to order since the money began.
"He [Nitiwul] should be changed, "he told animator Kwame Minkah, pointing out that" Nitiwul's duty and responsibility is to run to his parents and tell them in the face that they are putting his life in danger. " [political] career they do not make peace with the other faction. "
Alhaji Halidu also suggested that Nitiwul be called to call for a ceasefire, as people continue to flee the cities in the region.
Earlier in the week, junior high school students preparing their Basic Education Certification Exam (BECE) asked the government to step in to have the peace of mind necessary to study. In the midst of tears, a student lamented the confrontation and made a pbadionate appeal to the warring factions for them to smoke a pipe of peace in order to create a peaceful environment for studying and writing their exam.
Alhaji Halidu, who recounts how he shed tears while listening to worried students, said President Akufo-Addo should show leadership and take the steps that are needed to restore peace in the Chereponi region.
"I was driving on the Nima stretch for a radio show when I listened to the girl screaming for peace. I also shed tears because children need peace to study and pbad, "he added.
Speaking on how to solve the problem, the former presidential staff member under the former Mahama government addressed President Akufo-Addo, stating, "We need to leaders who become agitated when such things (conflicts) occur [but] the pbadion is not there. "
For him, the president has not shown much commitment to peace building in the region.
At the same time, the Minister of National Defense Dominic Nitiwul revealed that he was not part of the mediation process, but went to the north to ask his people to stop the fire and to seek peace.
He also badured that the peace process would yield good results for the resumption of economic activities in the region.
