Ashgold eliminated Saddick Adams from his squad for the upcoming Confederation Cup campaign.
The 29-year-old who had joined the Kotoko Miners two seasons ago was abandoned because he asked to be released in order to sign for the Ivorian side, Asec Mimosas.
"About three months ago, he (Saddick Adams) came to tell us that Asec was interested in his services. In fact, he even came up with the club president and we asked them to pay something before they could sign the player, "Ashgold CEO Fred Acheampong told Asempa FM in an interview.
He added that the Ivorian club had accepted their terms and decided to return with the said amount. They are still waiting for payment to release the player.
"They have accepted our conditions and we are still waiting for them to come and pay for the player to be released," said the CEO.
He explained that the decision not to include the player in their Confederation Cup team was to avoid double registration, where he could play both with Ashgold and Asec Mimosas once Ashogld's financial demands would be settled.
The CEO said it was not their nature to prevent players from looking for greener pastures outside. Once Saddick asked to leave them, they had no choice but to grant him his wish.
With Saddick's departure likely to avoid avoidance, the CEO announced that he had developed a Plan B to ensure that he would find a suitable replacement for the attacker.
Acheampong revealed that they had captured Benjamin Eshun from Liberty Professionals and promoted a young player from their academy to help him in the continental club campaign.
