The home of Liverpool striker Sadio Mane was robbed as he was playing the last game of the Champions League against Bayern Munich last Tuesday.
Items such as watches, cell phones and car keys have been stolen.
The incident occurred at Mane's in Allerton, in southern Liverpool, between 18:00 and 23:45 GMT – while the 26-year-old was at Anfield. No one was in the property at the time.
Forensic examinations are in progress and a police investigation is underway.
Detective Inspector Phil Mahon of the Merseyside Police Department said, "We are calling on anyone with information about this robbery to come and see our investigations.
"Even if the occupants were not present at the time of the incident, it will undoubtedly be a painful experience for them and I would ask the offenders to act properly and return the stolen property to the owner. in every way possible.
"We know that watches, in particular, have an important monetary value and I would also like to appeal to all those who could have been offered the items on sale since the burglary to contact the police."
The Senegalese international Mane was robbed in November 2017 while he was in Anfield for a Champions League match against Maribor.
A gang would have entered his home before breaking a patio door at the nearby address of his teammate Dejan Lovren before escaping when a woman shouted that she was calling the police.
