Rockson Bukari denied attempting to bribe the journalist before his resignation
An Accra-based Starr FM reporter, Mr. Edward Adeti, said he had received death threats as a result of his briefing on a corruption incident involving a state minister to the presidency Mr. Rockson Bukari, who had tried to compromise him to drop bad story about a judge and the Chinese mining company Shaanxi in the far east region.
Knowing that the badbadination of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale is still fresh in the minds of Ghanaians after the role he played in the expose revealing the rot in the Ghanaian and African football that led to the resignation of the President of the Ghana Football Federation, Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, it is feared that the life of Mr. Adeti is in danger.
Sending to Benjamin Akakpo at the Executive Breakfast Show on Clbad91.3FM on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Mr. Adeti stated that although he had received several death threats, he was not afraid of for his life.
He said: "Since last year, I have received text and even social media threats. Last was yesterday [Monday, 29 April 2019]Mubariq Muntari said, "Edward Adeti will regret it." As for the fears, I have them as human, but for me, I will rather die rather than let the injustice unfurl. Take it away, because at the end of the day we will all die but we may not know how we are going to die.
"I'm more afraid for my family, but death threats do exist," he added.
Mr. Bukari had previously denied attempting to bribe the journalist the day before his resignation.
In a statement signed by the director of communication at the presidency, Eugene Arhin said the president had accepted the resignation of the former regional minister of Upper East East after presenting it Monday because he had "taken note of the current tape in the media" and had, therefore, made the decision to resign "so as not to let the tape disrupt the task of the government in carrying out its mandate".
Mr. Bukari stated in his letter that he had resigned "as a matter of principle" after "exercising his judgment in a manner contrary to what I knew you were defending and demanding from your agents in the management of that country".
