Salifu Maase a.k.a Mugabe
A circuit court in Accra granted Salifu Maase a.k.a Mugabe, a radio presenter on bail, a deposit of 50,000 GH ¢ with three bonds.
The accused has been charged with offensive conduct for breach of public peace and publication of false information that may cause fear and panic.
Mr. Godwin Tamakloe, Maase's lawyer, testified that his client was ready to stand trial.
He stated that the charges against his client were minor offenses.
He said the defendants had people of substance to secure themselves, and therefore asked the court to obtain a bond.
Deputy Police Superintendent George Amegah told the court that the prosecution was not opposed to the bail application, but had pleaded with the court to ensure that bail conditions would result in the accused appearing in court for a speedy trial.
The court chaired by Ms. Eva Bannerman Williams then granted Mugabe bail after listening to both parties.
The case was sent back to May 2 for the opening of the lawsuit.
