Speaking exclusively to Digital spy, Wainwright said she hoped the show would continue long after the second series, which will see Anne (Suranne Jones) and Ann Walker (Sophie Rundle) negotiate their married life as a gay couple.

"They sit together at Shibden in Round Two, talking about how they negotiate their married lives in public, and how they handle their detractors and consequences for their relationship," said Wainwright. .
