Seven people in Bloomington, Minnesota, were infected with Salmonella Braenderup. The Minnesota Department of Health has linked this Salmonella outbreak at the Green Mill Restaurant and Bar. Three people got sick after eating at a training event organized by Green Mill. Four other people got sick after eating at Green Mill itself.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health, "Salmonella-infected food workers may have been a source of contamination, but other sources of contamination could not be ruled out" in the report. Green Mill Salmonella Epidemic. Two food workers at Green Mill had a positive result Salmonella Braenderup.
The Ministry of Health also investigated tomatoes and romaine lettuce served at Green Mill. "The consumption of tomatoes and romaine lettuce was statistically badociated with the disease," which means that among people who were sick, more people than expected had eaten tomatoes or romaine lettuce.
Public health investigators identified the following issues at this Green Mill site:
- The Victory detergent has been connected to the 3-compartment sink.
- The paper towel dispenser was empty on the cooking line.
- An employee was seen touching a pizza with his bare hands.
- An employee was seen rinsing the pizza knife in the sink.
- The manometer was not functional on the dishwasher.
