Italian Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Salvini was targeted by the shocking discovery of a French-made missile in Pavia, northern Italy. Italian officers on Monday found an air-to-air missile in a hangar weighing nearly a ton on other weapons in what has become one of the most sensational police seizures in the country's recent history. It was unlikely that the missile would be used any time soon because it can only be used on an aircraft and was not loaded.
Three people, the owners of the hangar and Fabio Del Bergiolo, a man affiliated with the far-right forces who were trying to sell the missile, have already been arrested.
Just hours after the police spoke of the seizure, Mr. Salvini claimed to have alerted the police of a far-right group that was planning an badbadination attempt, which would have led to the discovery of this arsenal.
He told the Italian news agency ANSA: "I reported it myself.
"The secret services spoke of a Ukrainian group that was preparing an badbadination attempt. I'm glad it was used to discover the arsenal of some crazy people. "

He added on Twitter: "The investigation that followed a denunciation about a possible attempt by foreigners to badbadinate me led to the discovery of an arsenal of weapons and the arrest of neo-Nazis.
"Thanks to the police, I continue without fear."
But DIGOS, the Italian anti-terrorist police and the prosecutor's office quickly refuted Mr Salvini's shocking statement.
Officers said the investigation began about a year ago after monitoring the suspicious activities of Italian far-right supporters who had fought as volunteers in the Donbbad when the conflict between Ukraine and Russia erupted in 2014.
The investigation led to Del Bergiolo, a former customs official and failed candidate in Forza Nuova, inspired by the fascist party, who had never hidden his affiliation to neo-Nazism.
The police added that there was no evidence that he was allegedly murdered by this group.
The officers explained that Mr. Salvini had lodged a complaint, but that the investigation that followed at the time of the information had resulted in nothing and had proved that no one was trying to kill him with a missile.
On the contrary, the arsenal was recently probably intended to be part of an agreement on the sale of weapons concluded by these far-right personalities.
Mr Salvini's request has provoked irony on social networks.
One of them wrote to the Deputy Prime Minister on Twitter: "Minister, the only attack you have launched at the moment, you have launched a nuclear bomb of misinformation!
"I hope you're joking, but I strongly doubt it.
"The problem is that there are going to be a lot of people who believe in the stupid thing you just said."
Another wrote: "At the press conference, the police made it clear that the investigations began more than a year ago.
"They also talk about possible discussions on the sale of the missile.
"The things you invent."
And another added: "Digos has just refuted that weapons seized from neo-Nazis should be used against you.
"The police refuse the minister of the interior. When will these antics end?
