Samuel George Nettey, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram
The decision of the parliamentary minority to carry placards bearing the inscription "bloody widow" was justified by the Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel George Nettey.
Sam George, as he is known to many, has called the action his side of "normal parliamentary practice".
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputies demonstrated Tuesday morning to protest against the swearing in of newly elected MP Lydia Alhbadan of Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Parliamentarians said that they did not want to be involved in the process. On leaving, they raised signs with the inscription "Bloody Widow".
Many have condemned this behavior of the minority and consider that it is an affront to the home of the month of August.
Sam George told Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen program on Tuesday that even though he did not see the supposed signs, the minority was not mistaken.
He explained that it was a fact that the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon was a "bloody by-election" and that this description was therefore appropriate.
The Ningo-Prampram MP explained that even President Akufo-Addo and the late President Atta Mills, while delivering their speeches on the state of the nation, had been heckled in Parliament to back up his argument.
Sam George, however, always urged Lydia Alhbadan to take it in good faith, as it was normal in Parliament.
