Samira obtains Indian scholarship and free care for special pediatric cases

The wife of the Vice President, Hajia Ms. Samira Bawumia, through her non-profit organization, Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP), has obtained 12 free scholarships and services for children requiring special pediatric care at l & # 39; abroad.

A number of qualified Ghanaian students will benefit from partial and comprehensive scholarships in two Indian universities.

Health professionals should also receive training to improve their skills, while pediatric patients recommended for treatment abroad will receive free health care at a major Indian university hospital.

Ghana's High Commissioner for India, Michael Aaron NN Oquaye (Jnr), made the announcement in New Delhi, India, on Monday, March 18, 2019, at an event organized by the Delhi Branch of the United Nations. World Organization of People of Indian Origin (GIPIO) in collaboration with Samira's Humanitarian and Empowerment Projects (SEHP).

At a brief ceremony before the program; Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic, and Mrs. Samira Bawumia, Second Lady, HE Oquaye revealed that the University of Parul offers two (2) full scholarships, covering tuition fees and internship, to qualified Ghanaian candidates, while Crescent University offers 10 partial PhD scholarships to deserving students.

In addition, the Ghana Health Service has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Yenupoya University Hospital for the training of Ghanaian health personnel and the provision of free health care to pediatric patients requiring special care abroad. The training is intended for the training of fellows in the subspecialties in medicine and in the fields of health and nursing up to the level of the bachelor's, master's and doctorate.

HE. Mr. Oquaye thanked the Ghanaian government for the opportunity to perfect the training of qualified Ghanaians, stressing that this reflected the deep ties of friendship that unite India and Ghana.

For her part, Second Lady expressed her gratitude to the universities and health facilities that offered free health care and scholarships.
