Samsung Galaxy Fold Screen Problem Reports

New York / Seoul. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said it received "some" information that copies of its new foldable mobile model would have been damaged, which would increase the possibility that the expected device – which will cost $ 1,980 – be published more discreetly.

The Galaxy Fold, which will be on sale in the US from April 26, looks like a clbadic mobile, but opens like a book and displays a second screen the size of a small tablet of 18.5 centimeters.

The design, which will rival Huawei Technologies Co Ltd's Mate X, has been hailed as a future in a sector that has few surprises in store since Apple Inc. launched the iPhone in 2007.

However, before the launch, journalists who received the samples for review reported operational failures after only one or two days of use.

"We will inspect these units in detail (…) to determine the cause of the problem," Samsung said in a statement. Shares of the company closed down 3.1%, while the KOSPI index of the Seoul Stock Exchange fell 1.43%.

The problems resurrected the specter of the failure of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 three years ago. Errors in their stacks and in their design caused the fire and explosion of some specimens, forcing the South Korean company to demand the return of the model and the cancellation of its sales.

Analysts said they were not surprised by the operational problems with the first copies of the Fold test, but said their design would probably be less durable than that offered to Huawei.

"It's harder to combine than it is outside because it puts more pressure on screens, and it's something that worries people," said Park Sung-soon, an badyst at BNK Securities.
