Samsung launches one of its most popular smartphones for most observers, certainly under the radar: the Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s takes over from the predecessor of the same name and will again offer a robust smartphone with useful features at a relatively low price low. We now have all the details and a series of official photos.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover series enters the fifth generation. However, the new model is only a cautious upgrade, probably because many customers have enjoyed the Galaxy XCover 4 with its simple features. The price should start at around 250 euros, according to information from some European dealers.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s …
… almost looks like his predecessor
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s, official device name, which has been haunting the SM-G398F for a few weeks via regulatory databases and retailers, is equipped with a 5.0-inch LCD screen. The panel saves all gadgets such as rounded edges or rounded corners and offers simple food with 1280 x 720 pixels and a resulting pixel density of 294 PPI.
Under the hood, you will find the equally simple SoC Samsung Exynos 7885 Octacore, which offers a clock speed of at least 1.6 gigahertz. It is installed with three gigabytes of RAM and an internal 32GB flash memory, which can easily be expanded by a MicroSD card reader. WLAN ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC are also integrated. A headset jack and a freely badignable speed dial key for certain functions are also part of the equipment.

Careful upgrade for the camera
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s cameras are a welcome innovation for interested customers: the main camera at the back works with a resolution of at least 16 megapixels and offers a pleasantly large maximum aperture with F / 1.7. Of course, there is no image stabilizer here, but at least one optimization of the scene via artificial intelligence software.
On the front, Samsung installs a simple 5 megapixel camera with F / 2.2 aperture, which does not bring its own flash, but illuminates the screen when you want to take a low-light self portrait. After all, Full HD videos are possible, but slow motion and others are not necessary because of the simple processor.
In terms of power, Samsung relies on a storage capacity of 2800 mAh, which is now loaded via USB-TPE-C. The battery itself is a small "badet" – unlike the vast majority of current smartphones, it can easily be replaced by the user. This is made possible by the removable cover, which must nevertheless be waterproof.
In fact, the design as a "robust" device is the best selling proposition of the Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s. The casing has a durable rubber liner, which should provide good adhesion and impact resistance. The device is IP68 certified and must be both waterproof and dustproof. In addition, the XCover 4s is certified to the US 810 military standard and can easily withstand falls of up to 120 centimeters in height.
With a weight of 172 grams, the XCover 4s is relatively heavy for a 5-inch smartphone. The height of 9.7 millimeters is still relatively low for a device with robust housing. The Galaxy XCover 4 is expected to be available later this month – some dealers call June 12, 2019 to make an appointment.
