Samsung paves the way for loyalty to the Android phone brand (report)

No object arouses a claim of allegiance such as the smartphone. Once an Apple iPhone user always an iPhone user; The same goes for Samsung, Google, LG, etc. But with the abundance of smartphone options, the temptation is still to break the status quo and test other brands, especially with all of these Android phones competing for your attention.

Among Android phones, it seems that Samsung does not have much to fear to retain customers. In a survey released today (July 31) by the BankMyCell takeover site, Samsung ranks first in Android phones with a 63.9% repeat brand loyalty, while only 10.8% users are stuck on their HTC device.

If BankMyCell looks familiar, it's the rework site that produced a report claiming that iPhone's loyalty was dwindling among Apple smartphone owners. The methodology is the same here, with the site measuring fidelity by retention trends. In other words, a consumer is faithful when he exchanges a phone for another phone produced by the same company.

Of course, the data only come from customers who agreed to participate in the survey (64,000 people between January and July 2019, according to BankMyCell), but this still gives an insight into competition in the ever-growing market smartphones.

Which Android brand retains the most users?

Samsung is still waiting for Apple for the loyalty of its users, even though the iPhone trade for other brands' phones is at the highest level since 2011, according to BankMyCell. But the loyalty gap is narrowing between the two major smartphone manufacturers.

Google comes third, with 51% brand loyalty included in the BankMyCell report. LG follows with 40.7% of loyalty, followed by Motorola with 37.9%. HTC has the lowest brand loyalty, with 82.9% of owners choosing another Android brand.

BankMyCell did not include Huawei in its study, given the difficulty of buying the Chinese phone manufacturer's handsets in that country.

What brand of Android do users switch to?

Customers looking to swap their current Android phone for another from a different brand pbad through Samsung more than any other company. Those who already own a Samsung phone and are looking for a change are more likely to switch to an iPhone, but LG is the second most common option.
