Samsung’s semiconductor manufacturing arm is planning to invest around $ 10 billion in a factory in Texas, which is believed to produce 3nm chips, according to a new Chinese report.
This would be its most advanced chipmaking plant in the world, and the location is intended to help Samsung reach more U.S. customers in its battle with Taiwanese chipmaking giant TSMC.
Samsung’s plans are apparently only preliminary at this stage, with the aim being to start construction this year and then install major equipment from 2022. As for the start of operations, it is scheduled for 2023. We will have to wait and see if this will end.
