Pa Ranjith puts the action in a boxing ring in the Sarpatta Parambarai trailer as he captures the culture and heritage of the sport in North Chennai. The trailer begins with a character explaining how northern Madras fell in love with boxing as a sport. Pasupathi’s character says his ancestors learned boxing from the British and ended up beating them in no time. Thus began North Chennai’s undying love for sport, which forever changed the lives of the locals.
Judging by the Sarpatta Parambarai trailer, the film follows the legacy of boxing in northern Chennai. It’s not just a sport there as the pride, honor and legends of the clans are at stake.
Actor-filmmaker Suriya unveiled the trailer on Tuesday. “Hats off @beemji @arya_offl and all the cast and crew for creating this epic #SarpattaParambaraiOnPrime movie The hard work of the crew is evident on screen !! (sic),” he said. he tweeted while sharing the trailer.

The main focus is the rivalry between Sarpatta Parambarai and Idiyappam Parambarai. While Arya’s Kabilan belongs to Sarpatta, John Kokken’s Vembuli comes from Idiyappam’s camp. Before Kabilan can take on Vembuli, he must prove that he is worthy to step into the boxing ring. How does he prove it? By leading the elimination of street gangs and senseless violence.
Sarpatta Parambarai is set in northern Chennai in the 1970s. Ranjith said earlier that he came to experience the local’s rich boxing culture while researching his 2014 film Madras.
The highlight of the trailer has to be some high octane boxing matches. The fight sequences look authentic and are a far cry from the superficial and ill-informed way Tamil movies have imagined the sport so far.
“I went through a major physical transformation for this movie and I went through rigorous training to fully understand the physics of a boxer’s techniques. It’s a completely different role for me than my previous films and I think it was. will be a defining film for my career. Just like sports, Sarpatta Parambarai promises to deliver a thrilling experience with action sequences and a storyline that will keep you going, ”Arya said in a press release.
Sarpatta Parambarai also stars Kalaiyarasan, Dushara, Santhosh Pratap, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Johnn Vijay, Kali Venkat, Muthukumar, among others in the supporting cast. It is scheduled to air on Amazon Prime Video on July 22.
