SAS announced that it was canceling hundreds of scheduled flights Sunday as a strike of the Scandinavian airline's pilots entered its second day Saturday.

"We deeply regret that our customers are affected by the current pilot strike which has resulted in delays and canceled flights," SAS said in a statement.

"Due to the strike, about 64,000 pbadengers will be affected by 587 canceled flights across Scandinavia".

SAS pilots went on strike on Friday as the pay talks broke down, blocking about 70 percent of the airline's flights and affecting the travel plans of some 170,000 pbadengers on the weekend alone.
