SAS Strike: Hundreds of additional flights stalled as disengagement enters the seventh day

Hundreds of additional flights from Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) are canceled today while the pilots' strike continues for a seventh day.

More than 1,400 drivers has been released since last Friday on wages and unpredictable work habits.

Since then, the Scandinavian airline has canceled more than 4,000 flights while strikes continued this weekend and this week.

It is thought that about 380,000 pbadengers were affected.

Discussions between the two parties resumed yesterday, although no agreement was reached.

The strikes were triggered by the Swedish pilot union Svensk Pilotförening, the SPF, supported by those from Denmark and Norway.

Wages are the main bone of contention, followed closely by irregular and unpredictable work habits.

"We started these mediations with the requirement to get virtually the same agreement as our Norwegian competitors, Ryanair or easyJet," said Christian Laulund of the Norwegian SAS Pilots Association (NSF) in a statement. "It's about how a pilot can plan his life and ensure his predictability, so that he can lead a private life that matches his work."

Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO of SAS, said in a statement: "The consequences are serious for all travelers, for society and also for all our employees who work tirelessly to help everyone."

The airline said it "was striving to find a solution as quickly as possible to avoid additional inconvenience to travelers" and apologized for "unusually long waiting times" Of its customer service.

Flights operated by SAS partners, such as CityJet, will not be affected by the strike, according to the airline.

Customers with upcoming bookings with SAS can make a new booking or cancel their tickets for free until May 5th.
