DUBAI, Sept.15 (Reuters) – The consumer price index in Saudi Arabia rose 0.3% in August from a year earlier and 0.1% month-on-month, data showed on Wednesday of the government.

That was stable from a 0.4% increase in July, Saudi Arabia’s General Statistics Authority said. This compared to a 6.2% increase in June, the last month affected by the tripling of value added tax (VAT) in July of last year.

Data from August showed that the rise in the CPI was mainly due to higher prices in the transport sector, which rose 6.5%, and a 1.9% increase in food prices. and drinks.
