UPDATE:
Unlike Scarface's reports, rapper Bushwick Bill is still alive but has been hospitalized. Geto Boys ™ representatives tell TMZ, Bill is in the hospital but "still alive and fighting cancer".
Bill's publicist said that false news about his death had been communicated and spread quickly, even among his relatives. Bill's family is currently at his side, reports the celebrity news website.
ORIGINAL HISTORY:
Tragic news hits the home front of hip-hop. Geto Boys member Bushwick Bill is dead, according to a member of the group Scarface.
Uncle Face announced the news to fans on Instagram on Sunday, June 9th. Sharing a picture of himself and Willie D of Geto Boys, the face is subtitled, "RIP Bushwick Bill …."
Willie D also appeared to confirm the death Sunday via IG. He posted a series of photos with the three members, as well as the caption: "This is Geto Boys for life. #Wecantbestopped # 30years of Controversy"
Texan rapper Bun B also offered his condolences on social networks. "The last time I saw him, he was, is, and will always be a legend," said Bun with a photo of Bill. "God bless his soul and his family, there will never be another, RIP Bushwick Bill, Geto Boys."
The exact circumstances surrounding Bill's death are unknown so far, but the rapper recently revealed that he was suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed in February 2019. "It was crazy to discover that pancreatic cancer was only detected during the fourth or fifth stage," Bushwick said recently in an interview. "I kept it for myself but I'm getting ready to tell Scarface, Willie D and I only told family members."
The group announced that they were going on a meeting tour in May but had to cancel the ride, probably because of Bill's health.
XXL contacted the Bushwick Bill manager for comments.
