Oslo, June 2, 2019: Scatec Solar and its partners have connected their network and are in commercial operation for another 65 MW of the 400 MW Benban project in Egypt. Scatec Solar, which currently operates 130 MW in Egypt, is expected to have completed the project in the second half of 2019.
The Benban Solar Power Plant is Scatec Solar's largest project under construction and the world's first solar panel solar panel, capturing the sun on both sides to increase total clean energy production.
In April 2017, Scatec Solar and its partners KLP Norfund and Africa 50 signed 25-year electricity purchase agreements with the Egyptian government for the supply of electricity. from six solar power plants, with an equivalent capacity, totaling 400 MW. The annual 870 GWh of electricity generated by Scatec Solar's power plants in Benban will save about 350,000 tons of CO2 per year and energy for more than 420,000 households in Egypt.
