Students from the Bukunor Junction Elementary School in Yilo Krobo District sit on the floor to take their exams.

The primary block of the school, which houses 113 students, has leaked all the roofing and courses must stop whenever it rains.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the school, students in the fourth clbad took a test and some sat on the floor because of insufficient double desks for children.

During clbades in some clbadrooms, three to four students sat on a desk for two people.

Some parts of the floor cemented in the clbadrooms of the main block have disappeared, leaving many holes in the clbadrooms.

In kindergarten, the 80 children have only nine double desks.

Half of the roof of the high school clbad for 33 students had been torn off, exposing some of them to the vagaries of the weather.

Mr John Kofie, deputy director of the school, said that the school had been built in 1987 by World Vision International and handed over to the government, but had not yet been rehabilitated.

He added that the school authorities had informed the Ghana Education Services Office in Yilo Krobo District of the critical situation of the school.

Mr Kofie said the school had also appealed to the Yilo Krobo District Assembly and the non-governmental organization Plan Ghana International, but no help had come.
