CrasH Talk feels like a chance to reconnect with a friend who has become a stranger. Three years have pbaded since Groovy Q published his GRAMMY-nominated Gold Ball-Curve, Blank Face LP, but you feel much longer in retrospect.
May the return of ScHoolboy Q follow in the footsteps of "Numb Numb Juice" and present a fast and effective brand that we remember.

1. "Gang Gang"

3. "Chopstix" ft. Travis Scott
ScHoolboy Scott. On the heels of "Tales", this one feels already bbad. The rhythm has a nice rebound, but Travis seems to fit in a plastic bag. Q arrived with the type of energy that suggests that the label gave him a check to write this song. Some songs are hits, while others sound like they're supposed to be hits, and "CHopstix" is the latter. Dude, I'd like him to leave this one on the floor of the cutting room; this beat and this hook are interchangeable with just about any rapper. And what the heck are the chopsticks that Travis loves so much? Oh, his legs? It's weird, man. I'll have to pbad this one.
4. "numb juice"
And it's gone! Combustion! Q is an upward rocket and production is the flame that pushes it out of Earth's orbit. If I went to the gym, "numb juice" would make me tear in the summer. the the towers that he pulls are impeccable. Every line, every flow, every pocket, not a single second is wasted. "Numb Numb Juice" is a flawless single, a flawless record and a song I will play in the years to come. Go watch the video, it was said that Jay Electronica was hiding his album there.
5. "Drunk" ft. 6LACK
A R & B feature and it's not SZA or Miguel? I like the idea of 6LACK taking Q to a new place. Oh yes, daytime fans will appreciate this one. I like his slowness and relaxation. A beat that stumbles. 8. "Black Folk"
This album is moving so fast. It's the opposite of Blank Face LP. Where is the meat? Some sing. All in all, her voice is engaging and the production is captivating. Unfortunately, he suffers from bbadity.
CrasH Talk could have been an album solely focused on the hardships and tribulations of Quincy Hanley: the rapper, the father, the man. Remove the firecrackers and stack the melancholy. Instead of fully engaging in the crash, however, Q spends too much time pretending that everything is fine. All is not well. Life burns us all. We are all collapsing.
A record like "Tales", co-produced by DJ Dahi, Jake One and G Koop, works so well because Q looks like it makes for a negative trip to the past. But instead of allowing us to witness the whole accident, the scars and all that has happened, Q hides behind the bbad and harsh speech.
Talking is not expensive.
