Scott McTominay believes that versatility is the key to becoming a regular starter at Manchester United.
Aged 22, he made 22 appearances with the Red Devils last season and has trusted in major Champions League clashes with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
The Scottish international wants to win in the team of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next season.
With Ander Herrera leaving the club at the end of last season and no substitute having yet been signed, he could find more opportunities to establish himself as regular player of the first team.
"It was my goal two years ago and last year," said McTominay when asked if he could be a regular starter next season.
"It's always my goal. It's my ambition to be a regular No.6 player, No.8, box-to-box player – that's my main ambition. It is important that I really go for it now.
"Obviously, there is an opportunity and you have to grab it with both hands. Last year, I had decent performances and it is important that I continue this momentum.
"We are in the Europa League this year and it is important that I continue."
United continues to chase Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff but McTominay defends himself no matter who he can bring.
He added, "No matter what other recruits or who plays where, you have to support yourself to become a Man United player. It's something I've done over the past two years, I've always supported myself.

"I tried to train myself hard and I always wanted to do more to try to give myself that 1% difference. When it comes to crucial moments in big matches like Barcelona or PSG in the Champions League, it is important that you are ready for them. "
