Richard Leonard is pleased that the members supported the plans

Scottish Labor's governing body is committed to supporting another referendum on Brexit.

Chief Richard Leonard is pleased that members support the plan.

Scottish Labor will now campaign for any Brexit agreement to be automatically submitted to the public in a confirmation vote.

The party will now campaign for this ballot to have a clear option to stay and that the Scottish Labor Party is campaigning to stay in the EU.

Mr. Leonard said, "I am delighted that the Scottish Labor Executive Committee has approved my call to the party to support a vote of confirmation on any Brexit transaction with Remain as an optional option on the ballot.

"The Scottish Labor Party will campaign for Remain's victory in such a vote.

"Only Scottish Labor is currently building a radical platform for investing in people and communities, our industries and our public services."

The pro-EU wing of the party feared that a new commitment could be "diluted".

The vote took place as a new ballot, on behalf of the pro-European groups Best for Britain and Hope not Hate, suggesting that the Labor Party could lose all of its Scottish MPs if it did not support another vote .

Pressure is mounting for the party to clarify its position on the Brexit after a bad performance in the European elections.

The party dropped to fifth place with only 9.3 percent of the vote, lost both of its MEPs, and two front-line MPs – Neil Findlay and Daniel Johnson – resigned.
