Wind energy production in Scotland reached a record high in the first six months of 2019, according to Weather Energy figures.

He calculated that the energy produced by the turbines could power every home in Scotland and in a northern part of England.

The equivalent of 4.47 million homes consumed by wind energy would have accounted for until June.

The WWF Scotland has described this trend as a "revolution of wind energy".

Its director, Robin Parker, responsible for climate and energy policy, said: "These are amazing numbers. The wind energy revolution in Scotland is clearly continuing to progress.

"From top to bottom of the country, we all benefit from cleaner energy, just like the climate.

"These figures show that exploiting Scotland's abundant onshore wind potential can provide clean, green electricity to millions of homes not only in Scotland, but also in England.

Alex Wilcox Brooke of the Severn Wye Energy Agency added: "These figures highlight the consistency of wind energy in Scotland and why it is now playing a major role in the UK energy market".
