Accra, July 26, GNA – The International
Women's Congress of the West Africa Division and the Seventh Day Adventist Center
(SDA) will take place next week from July 29th to August 4th at Kwame
University of Science and Technology of Nkrumah, Kumasi.
Before the conference, Ms. Heather Dawn
Small, the SDA Women's Ministries World Department Head, has arrived
in Ghana to attend the conference which will bring together 22 women
countries with more than 4,000 people.
The conference on the theme "Registered in
serve, "will be addressed by the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
The conference is held once in five
years to address various issues of education, vocational training,
empowerment and encourage women to be role models.
Dr. Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Women's Representative
Director of Ministries of the Southern Ghana Union Conference with the SDA Church Briefing
media in Accra, said the meeting would be a way of discussing
issues of education, vocational training, community empowerment and inspiring
women to be role models in their homes, careers and countries.
She said the group would be fast and
pray for the development and prosperity of the countries especially Ghana to thwart
efforts of the nation's destroyers as a result of the recent attacks on Christians in the
subregion.
Dr. Agyenim-Boateng found the inspiration
conference opening ceremony would be used for outdoor the first ever all
Devotional book for women West African writers whose product would be used
finance the education of young girls.
Other activities she listed as part of the
congress including intensive workshops on human development and bad cancer
screening, community service activities such as donations to orphanages,
exercise in selected hospitals and markets.
Ms. Dawn Small stated that the SDA church had developed
"Enditnow", a project that fought against all forms of abuse for
humanity through various activities.
