77 years ago this week, 80 members of the US armed forces fought the Japanese mainland in retaliation for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The attack, known as the Doolittle Raid, was planned and directed by Lt. Col. James Doolittle, who flew the chief bomber. Dick Cole, who died this week at the age of 103, was in the co-pilot's seat.
