Security is tight in the country's various polling stations, where thousands of voters vote in the presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Ghana Police Service (GPS) had, prior to the elections, warned all CND self-defense groups not to attempt to provide unauthorized security to a candidate or executive.

In Dome-Kwabenya, Trobu, Asokwa, Ningo-Prampram, Tamale Central Constituencies, among others, police seem to have sealed the polls, preventing taxis and motorbikes from getting closer.

Security is also enhanced at Asawase Constituency, a stronghold of the NDC.

Thirty policemen were deployed to provide security at the post office of Aboabo, which is also another polling station.

A total of 1,450 delegates are expected to vote.

The vote began at 7:00 and 129 people voted peacefully at 9:00.

Meanwhile, in the district of Asokwa, in the Ashanti region, there are 1,200 voters, according to Electoral Commission figures, of which 169 voted at the time of writing this report.

The Tamale Central District in the Northern Region has a total of 1,267 registered delegates who vote.

Seven candidates, former President John Mahama, Professor Joshua Alabi, Goosie Tanoh, Sylvester Mensah, Alhaji Nurudeen, Ekow Spio-Garbrah and Alban Bagbin are voting.
