The power utility, Power Distribution Services (PDS), has released the load management schedule for Saturday, April 6, 2019..

the Breakdowns lasting 14 hours will affect communities in eight regions of the country. According to PDS, the failures are due to the closure of the Atuabo gas treatment plant.

The challenge

Power outages that have occurred in some areas of the country are due to the total closure of the Atuabo gas processing plant in the West region.

According to the Ministry of Energy, power outages were not due to lack of funds to buy fuel to power power plants, but to the total closure of the plant and the power plant. Atuabo to allow Ghana Gas to link its systems to the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo).

The deputy energy minister in charge of energy, Mr. William Owuraku Aidoo, has since apologized to the people for the irregular distribution of electricity in some parts of the country.

Aidoo said food problems would last for 12 days, when all processes ensuring a stable diet were expected to be completed.

He added that other arrangements had been made for adequate fuel supply to make up for the lack of gas supply during the shutdown period.
