The Bank of Ghana has released a clearer version of the updated Cedi Notes, which is expected to be released on May 6.
The notes were signed by the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, on March 4th. They must now be on the market next month.
The exercise aims to strengthen the currency against pretense, said the central bank in a press release of April 8, 2019.

In its statement announcing the new notes, the BoG explained that the new notes included enhanced security features adapted to current developments in the technology landscape.
New enhanced security features include an optically variable magnetic image (SPARK LIVE), a new enhanced security thread (RAPID), a more visible watermark, and an improved iridescent band on the back of the ticket.
Improved and existing banknotes will circulate, according to the BoG.
BOG also revealed that the following key design elements would remain unchanged in the enhanced tickets; the portrait of the Big Six, the denominational colors, the dimensions of the different denominations and other main and background images.
