President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Sefwi-Wiawso capital of the new region of West and North.
Speaking at a ceremony to introduce Constitutional Instrument (IC) 117 at the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday, February 15, 2019 for the creation of the Northwest Region, Mr. Akufo Addo said: from the North West region »
Nana Akufo-Addo, however, badured the population that the development of the North-West region would be extended to all towns and villages.
Nana Akufo-Addo also appointed Acting Minister of the newly created region, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, as Acting Minister of the newly created region until a deputy minister was appointed.
The creation of the North West region, along with five others, was a New Patriotic Party (NPP) election promise in the 2016 election.
After the NPP's election victory, an inquiry commission, chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Brobbey, was created to ensure the creation of the regions.
As a result, Oti, Bono East, North West, Ahafo, Savane, North East regions have been created.
