The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed the deaths of four people as a result of the boat accident occurred Saturday on Lake Volta.
Six occupants of the boat were rescued and a search is underway to find a missing person, according to Selasie Desawu, public relations officer in the eastern region of NADMO.
The capsized canoe reportedly transported 11 members of the Senchi Assembly of God Church to Akrade, in the Asuogyaman district, in the east of the country, on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
In a radio interview with Citi FM, based in Accra, NADMO spokesman said six victims were immediately rescued.
Victims would return from a religious program on Saturday afternoon when the accident occurred.
The fishermen of the area are the ones who responded, saved the six and recovered the four bodies.
