After Simona Halep qualified for the final with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over Elina Svitolina, Williams joined the Court Court to stage a tantalizing clash with Romanian.

Williams started the game as a favorite after winning all three previous matches against Strycova.

And she started well, beating the Czech to lead 3-1 with a great pbad forward.

Williams then got the crucial double break and served the game with an ace after just 27 minutes.

Strycova is an accomplished double player, who likes to attack the net, but was given few opportunities to advance as Williams controlled the trade from the base game.

And supported by his sister Venus in the stands and David Beckham in the royal category, Williams beat Strycova to lead 3-2 in the second set.

Williams then consolidated the break with a loving service and increased to two games in the final.

The American refused to drop her level and momentum, breaking Strycova for the second time in the set to lead 5-2 while the 33-year-old put a wide end.

This allowed Williams to serve for the match and on her first match point after just 59 minutes, she sealed her spot in a 11th Wimbledon final with a forehand.

After the match, Williams said, "It's good, especially after my year, so it feels good to be back in the final.

"I just needed matches, I know I'm progressing and I have to feel good so I can do what I do best, play tennis."

"I love what I do, I get up every morning and I'm fit, I play sports and I play in front of crowds like here at Wimbledon – not everyone can do that.

"I love what I do, I'm still pretty good at what I do and it's still an amazing experience."

Williams leads the match with Halep 9-2 and questioned about playing at 27, she said: "We still have tough games.

"It was a tough match for me and I can not wait to see it."
