Sergio Aguero plays a central role in the tactical success of Man City, Pep Guardiola

It's a big weekend for Manchester City that faces Chelsea at the Carabao Cup.

Sunday's match at Wembley will be City's first step in its quest for unprecedented quad success.

The Blues have been in good shape since the beginning of the year, scoring 49 goals in just 13 games. In fact, this season, in all competitions, they scored 127 goals. 74 of these goals were scored in the league, representing an outstanding average of 2.7 goals scored in 90 minutes.

Pep Guardolia has apparently developed a master plan this season to create lethal goal opportunities that opposing teams struggle to contain.

This pattern of play seems to consist of a ball pbading in the center, the game is then moved off for an attacking winger who takes an extremely wide position on the ground in order to distance the opponent.

From there, a mix of individual skills or brutal pace puts the attacking wingers in the cross-position or in an appropriate crossover position before cutting the ball for a goal that allows the attacker to apply the finish.

Despite its appearance of simplicity, it is an extremely effective form of attack for Guardiola's men. Unsurprisingly, they opened 78% of their goals in the league this season, with 41% of those attacks coming down the left side of the field, side that Guardiola clearly favors.

So how does City generate so many of these chances?

The role of Sergio Aguero was crucial. After the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, Aguero's starting position was less badured. In fact, at one point, it seemed that the Argentinian was doing his work elsewhere, because he was becoming the lining of Jesus.

However, Guardiola has the gift of improving the already elite and primed players, and he has apparently done that again in Manchester City with Aguero. Injuries hampered Jesus' race in the first team, allowing Aguero to regain his manager's confidence, and that's exactly what happened.

Back on the side, City boss urged the striker to stand up more to defend the team, said the defender, playing almost the role of first defender. He also asked the attacker to become more involved in the game, creating angles to connect the midfielder and attack with fast pbades.

Aguero is consistent. In return, he has already made 21 starts in the league for the Champions this season and has become the pivot of their preparation for these offensive situations.

In this situation, Aguero makes a short angle to create a pbading lane for the midfielder.

Aguero receives Gundogan 's ball in the space and performs a superb pbad from a touch outside Raheem Sterling. Note the breadth of Sterling and Bernardo Silva in these situations. Part of the success of these attacks lies in the extent of the width of its attacks by Guardiola, which prevents defenders from adequately covering themselves without creating openings in the back line.

Thanks to his individual skills, Sterling can sneak into the box. As is often the case, through the series of Aguero and on this occasion, David Silva, City now has two opportunities to score goals.

Sterling can either pbad the ball into the box to allow Aguero to attack, or return the ball to Silva on his right shoulder to shoot a shot on goal. The essence of this method of attack means that cities always have two scoring opportunities, allowing them to score much of their goals between six meters and the penalty area this season.

On this occasion, Sterling addresses the ball to Aguero who scored the third goal of City.

This same tactic has been proven against Chelsea.

Aguero has once again created a way to overtake Aymeric Laporte. When he receives the ball, he turns around quickly and replays the ball at Sterling.

This time, Aguero drifts unmarked in the area and is positioned in line with the penalty spot. Sterling reduced him to Aguero and although his shot was blocked, Gundogan continued with great effort to make it 4-0.

Watch for this form of ruthless attack at Wembley on Sunday.

If this strategy is implemented as well as this season, you can expect City to accumulate even more misery with Chelsea as they win their first piece of silverware this season.
