BOULEVARD (KUSI) – At least three people were killed and eight others injured late this afternoon in a collision on Interstate 8 in the far southeast of San Diego County, officials said. .
The fatal accident occurred on the west side of the highway near Crestwood Road shortly before 4:30 pm, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told authorities that one of the vehicles involved was traveling at a speed above 100 mph just before the accident, the CHP announced.
The wreck left the two lanes of the western highway blocked in the area in the early evening, according to Cal Fire.
