The Minerals Commission has ordered the Chinese mining company Shaanxi Ltd to suspend all mining activities with immediate effect.
This order follows the death of 13 miners at the company's mining site in the Upper East region on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred while the workers of the Talensi district-based company exploded explosives for the purpose of extracting them.
Witnesses say that powerful clouds of smoke have strangled them.
The CEO of the Minerals Commission, Addae Antwi-Boasiako, said in a statement copied on Joy News: "The management of Shaanxi Mining Company Limited is directed to suspend all mining activities in Gbane with immediate effect until further notice, pending investigation of the tragic incident that occurred today. # 39; hui ".
