The Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival, which is celebrating its 14th birthday, has become a highly anticipated event that aims to increase awareness, prevention and treatment of South Floridas against the spread of HIV.
Traditionally as a march and a Sunday morning concert, the 2019 event has been extended to a multi – faceted music festival one day, which will begin with the return of the beach on the walkers. Shaggy and Big Freedia join the line-up with a wide range of performers, including rock-and-roll sensation, The struts, Grammy nominated Duo, Coastcity, and South Floridas own Deep Fried Funk Group. The event will be hosted by famous DJs Tracy Young and Alex Ferbeyre.

HIV / AIDS in Florida:
According to recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):
- Florida ranked first out of 50 US states in number of HIV diagnoses;
- Three Florida cities are among the top 15 cities in the country in terms of HIV-positive people. Miami tops the list, with Jacksonville and Orlando in tenth and eleventh places respectively; and
- Miami-Dade and Broward counties rank first among new HIV diagnoses in the country.
