Jean Mensah, President of the EC
The President of the Electoral Commission (EC) has strangely defended the reshuffle at the commission's headquarters in Accra, which has resulted in the transfer of some key officials.
Eric Dzakpasu, Head of Communications at the EC, has been transferred to the Volta Region.
The former head of the public affairs department of the EC is now the deputy regional director of the Volta.
Mr. Kofi Dzakpasu is one of the 30 officers affected by the mbad transfer.
The exercise which, according to the EC, is purely administrative, will see the realignment of some departments and units of the Commission.
In an interview, the EC chief stated that these changes were in the interest of the Commission.
"The EC reserves the right to transfer members of staff as it sees fit. If you look at all transfers, badignments and promotions, you will find that it is not a radical change. We had reason to appoint people to the position of Acting Director and Deputy Directors pending an interview with the Commission and the Public Service Commission.
She added: "So there are some movements here and there, we have arrived, it's been almost eight months since we have been on the ground and have evaluated the situation and I think what we are doing is in the interest higher commission. We find and make sure to place round stakes in round holes and square stakes in square holes to ensure this efficiency. "
