Sharon Tate survives? – / Movie

the Once upon a time in Hollywood the trailer is there, and it's great. The last film of Quentin Tarantino is a matter of stars, and based on this trailer, he will look heavily on comedy. This may seem like a strange choice, since the film features both Charles Manson and Sharon Tate, one of the victims of the Manson family.

But I have a theory – a theory I had a long time ago, and I feel stronger after watching the trailer. I think Tarantino will take the same approach as he did with Basterds without gloryand change the story. Significantly.

Once upon a time in Hollywood takes place in the summer of 1969. Quentin Tarantino has already said so, and the trailer apparently confirms it. It was an infamous summer in Los Angeles, because it was the summer when Sharon Tate and four other people had been murdered by the Manson family. Margot Robbie Tate plays in the movie, and she certainly looks downcast.

Since the first pictures of Robbie in the character have appeared, I have a theory. In all the shooting photos and in all the sequences of this trailer, Robbie's Tate is slim and thin. But here's the thing: in the summer of '69, the real Sharon Tate was pregnant. And she was not at the beginning of her pregnancy either. When she was murdered in August 1969, she was eight and a half months Pregnant.

This quick shot of Robbie-as-Tate coming out of a pool clearly shows that his character is do not Pregnant. Of course, women show their pregnancies in different ways, but I am convinced that a person who is eight and a half months pregnant has never had such a flat stomach. Which brings me to my theory: Tarantino will significantly subvert the story. The filmmaker has already done that with Basterds without glory, a film that ends with the badbadination of Hitler by US troops, while a movie theater filled with just about all the Nazi senior officials it explodes. Even if you are a bit confused in your story, you probably know that absolutely not how the Second World War ended.

With all this in mind, I have a sly suspicion that Sharon Tate is going to get out of it. Once upon a time in Hollywood living. That the murders of the Manson family do not happen. And that Manson himself could suffer a Hitler-like fate Basterds.

We quickly see Manson (played by Damon Herriman) in the trailer. It's so fast that you may not even realize it's supposed to be Charles Manson. In fact, if you did not know that this movie involves the Manson family, you will not get any real indication about it in this trailer. Of course, there are some shots of Manson girls lounging, but you have to look for them to notice them.

Then there is the tone of the trailer, which is pure comedy. Tarantino has balanced tones before. Almost all his films contain comedy, even the most brutal. But the tone here seems almost identical to the tone of Basterds without glorywho had big dramatic beats but relied heavily on humor. You would not expect a film about the Manson family's murders to be so funny, just as you probably would not expect a movie about comics tracking down the Nazis.

If you want to adhere to this theory, the big question you have to ask yourself is this: would Tarantino have the audacity to take this approach? I think he would – he does not think of me as a person who thinks he is in bad taste, even if others could.

Then there is the question of how the surviving loved ones of Tate could react to all this. When Once upon a time in Hollywood was first announced, Debra TateSharon Tate's sister expressed her indignation. She was particularly disgusted by the fact that Sony originally planned to release the film on August 9, which would coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of Sharon Tate's murder. The release date was then changed on July 26, 2019 and Debra Tate agreed to sit down with Tarantino to read the script.

After this meeting, Tate changed his opinion about the film. The news of the Tate / Tarantino meeting was broadcast via TMZ. His article said:

Debra says she has expressed her concerns and heard her, and then explained the movie's plot … which made her feel a lot better. She says she now believes that Tarantino has honorable intentions … "This movie is not what people expect it to be if you combine the names Tarantino and Manson." .

The statement "not what people are waiting for" sends a red flag. Does Tate confirm this theory? On the other side of the coin, would Tate accept Tarantino's radical change in history? I really do not know.

When the official Once upon a time in Hollywood Twitter posted the trailer today, the slogan included included this excerpt: "Experience has version of 1969. "The focus on version mine, but again, I can not help but think that this is another clue suggesting a film taking place in a kind of alternative reality. A reality where the terrible events of August 9, 1969 did not occur at all. And as this title implies, it is "once upon a time". This is not the reality, it's a fairy tale.
