Rusev's run with the US Championship was short-lived, while Shinsuke Nakamura took the title at Royal Rumble.
Everything collapsed during the run-up to the show when Lana participated in the match to prevent Nakamura from pulling out the turnbuckle tensioner.
Nakamura began shouting at Lana and the "bulgarian brute" rushed to attack his opponent from behind, but Shinsuke stepped aside to allow Rusev to fall on Lana.
"The Artist" then took advantage of the moment with his finisher to win the victory.
