NEW YORK (Reuters) – Three Greek shipping companies have sued US refiner Philadelphia Energy Solutions Inc. (PES) for about $ 600,000, claiming the company had not paid them for the costs of more crude oil tankers. early this year, according to court documents.
The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District Court of New York last Friday, just days before PES, the largest refinery on the East Coast, sought Chapter 11 protection from bankruptcy following a lawsuit. a fire that damaged his refinery at 335,000 barrels a day.
The PES left bankruptcy in August and has been struggling financially for several years.
Bayview Shipping Co S.A., Skyview Marine Co S.A. and Gulfview Shipping Co. S.A. are looking for a total of $ 605,160, gross vessel chartering, interest, court fees and other fees, according to PES, under the terms of the charter agreements.
According to the trial, cargoes chartered between February and April were loaded with N'Kossa crude oil.
N'Kossa crude is produced in the Republic of Congo and is generally known as N'Kossa Blend, a mixture of raw qualities N'Kossa and Kitina.
At least two of the goods were loaded from the Djeno terminal, according to the lawsuit filed by the French oil and gas company Total.
PES was not immediately available for comment.
The refinery is the largest and oldest on the east coast and is one of the few US buyers of African crude in the United States since the shale boom.
