Short animated tips from Marvel’s Avengers on Captain America’s WWII adventures

An animated short leading up to Marvel’s Avengers Black Panther’s next expansion – War for Wakanda provides a glimpse into Captain America’s history.

A new Marvel Avengers An animated short details the history of Wakanda, including an adventure from Captain America’s past. The superhero action role-playing game was developed by Crystal Dynamics and released in September 2020. Despite poor reception upon release, Marvel Avengers continues to be supported by posting updates and events.

The next post-launch content for Marvel Avengers will be an African adventure entitled Black Panther – The War for Wakanda. The planned expansion will add King T’Challa of Wakanda, the overpowered hero Black Panther, to the game’s growing list of playable Avengers. God of the warby Christopher Judge, the version of Black Panther in Marvel Avengers will draw inspiration from the character’s comic book and movie history for decades. Wakanda itself will also be an important part of the expansion, as War for Wakanda will add the futuristic nation as a new region for players to explore. Ulysses Klaue will act as the expansion’s main villain, bringing with him a whole new enemy faction and several new boss battles. Crystal Dynamics recently released a Black Panther animated short to set up the story of War for Wakanda. The short, titled Children of T’Chaka, sets up the relationship between King T’Challa and his various allies.

A new animated short titled Fathers and sons, posted on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel, explores more Marvel’s Avengers version of Wakanda while alluding to one of Captain America’s adventures in WWII. The short film is narrated by Zawavari, a Wakandan shaman who is one of Black Panther’s royal advisers. Through his storytelling, Zawavari sets up the upcoming conflict between Ulysses Klaue and T’Challa, explaining that Klaue’s father attempted to invade Wakanda more than 50 years ago. The video then reveals that T’Challa’s father, T’Chaka, managed to defeat Klaue’s father with the help of a young Captain America. Parallels are also drawn between Klaue and T’Challa, two men who attempt to carry on the legacy of their fathers.

Black Panther is a beloved member of Marvel’s pantheon of superheroes, in part thanks to actor Chadwick Boseman’s iconic portrayal of the character. Fans have been heartbroken by Boseman’s unexpected passing in August 2020, and more recent portrayals of the character often honor the late actor in one way or another. Marvel AvengersThe Black Panther version will be able to perform a “Wakanda Forever” salute, crossing his arms over his chest during an emote. The now iconic gesture was created for the years 2018 Black Panther film, with Boseman playing it often on the big screen and for enthusiastic fans.

Marvel Avengers received a negative reception upon his release, and the War for Wakanda the expansion may be the game’s last hope for resurrection. Crystal Dynamics seems to be going all out to make the expansion special, painstakingly crafting an adaptation worthy of Black Panther and Wakanda. With animated shorts released to set up War for Wakandaof the story, it seems like the developer is putting more and more emphasis on the game’s single-player story.
