At least five people were shot and were transported to the hospital when unknown gunmen invaded the Bawleshie residence of Democratic National Congress (NDC) candidate Mr. Kwasi Delali Berempong, at the same time. Ayawaso West Wuogon's by-election on Thursday morning.
Some of the victims have suffered injuries to the neck, arms and back.

The armed men, suspected of belonging to Invisible Forces, a political self-defense group, received sporadic gunfire, leaving the residents running.
The masked gunmen appeared in military uniform and started firing at the dozens of people who had gathered at Mr. Brempong's home.
Graphic Online journalists at the scene saw two bullet shells and blood stains outside the residence, where angry people were calmed by the police.

A number of police vehicles were brought to bring the wounded back to the hospital.

No arrests have yet been made.
Mr. Brempong was not there at the time of the incident.
However, when he arrived at the scene after the shooting, he expressed dissatisfaction with the incident.
The visible and angry parliamentary aspirant could not understand why anyone could go so far as to shoot people because of a by-election.
"I'm here, I'm the one on the ballot, so they should come and shoot me rather than the fans," he blurted out.
Meanwhile, the NDC's national president, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and other bigwigs of the party arrived at Mr. Brempong's residence.
