Las Vegas: An Amazon executive said the online shopping giant was not too big and should not be split, but adds that big companies deserve to be reviewed.
Amazon and other major technology companies are under scrutiny from government agencies that are examining their business practices. In addition, Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has called for the breakup of large technology companies like Amazon.
Jeff Wilke, who heads Amazon's retail business and reports to CEO and founder Jeff Bezos, said Wednesday that big companies deserved close scrutiny. He said that the job of Amazon is to create the kind of company that pbades this review closely.
Wilke made these comments during a meeting with reporters at an Amazon conference in Las Vegas, focused on artificial intelligence.
