Dozens of aggrieved customers of the gold distribution company Menzgold Ghana Limited reiterated their agitations by threatening to besiege the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to ask where is located the director of the troubled company, Nana Appiah Mensah NAM1).

Angry customers expressed their anger on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in front of the Accra International Press Center when they forwarded their request to the CID through the media.

They say they want to interview NAM1 about their blocked funds in Menzgold and its payment plan.

The group said its members want evidence that NAM1, who is in custody while awaiting trial for fraud, is really in Ghana.

They have therefore filed a series of demands with the government, adding that any attempt to ignore their concerns would result in a vote against President Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming elections in 2020.

The spokesman of the injured customers, Mr. Fred Forson, told Clbad FM: "It seems that everything is surrounded by secrecy".

He raised the question of why the blackout of the NAM1 trial had been overshadowed by the media, adding, "If the news [NAM1] in custody, we must go to the headquarters of the CID so that they can allow us to see our man ourselves and possibly ask him some questions about the fate of our investment ".

NAM1 was indicted by the police and was returned to the Accra Court of Appeal on July 26, 2019 after his arrival in Ghana.

He faces charges of fraud under false pretenses and two counts of having engaged in banking activities without a license, in violation of Article 6 (1) of the 2016 Act. banks and specialized deposit-taking institutions (Law 930).

Its Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited have also been accused of defrauding under false pretenses, contrary to sections 20 (1) and 13 (1) of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

Pre-trial detention was granted by the court at the request of the police so that the police could complete their investigation within two weeks.

He was arrested on Friday, July 12, 2019 after spending the night in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after arriving in Ghana from Dubai the day before.

The young Ghanaian businessman has been under the care of Dubai authorities since last December. He was arrested during his stay in the UAE to recover a considerable amount owed to his company by a businessman.

NAM1, sought by its thousands of aggrieved customers, whose investments have been stalled in the company since last August; as well as the government of Ghana, won two lawsuits against his rival businessman while he was in Dubai.

A red alert from Interpol has been on NAM1's head for several months since being held in Dubai.

The Dubai Supreme Court recently upheld the businessman's victory in a trial court, which had ordered his rival, Emirati, to pay $ 39 million to the Ghanaian.
